This is a frame-off restored 1954 MG TF sports car.
Nearly everything is either new, rebuilt or refurbished including new wood floors and framing. The car is restored to original except for the 45-amp Dynamotor alternator, voltage regulator, spin-on oil filter adapter and MGB radiator fan for improved reliability and efficiency. Original parts
are included if the buyer wishes to reinstall them. The XPAG 1250cc engine and head, distributor, dual SU H4 carbs are rebuilt with K&N air filters in the original canisters, new SU fuel pump, rebuilt 4-speed transmission, new clutch, throwout bearing and differential.
The engine has a new fan belt, points, plugs, cap, condenser, rotor & original tested coil, new exhaust. The engine does not smoke, burn oil abnormally or overheat. The clutch engages smoothly though the newly rebuilt transmission is still a little notchy. The radiator has been cleaned and serviced. A brass flow reducer installed in the radiator bypass hose allows the use of modern thermostats without possible overheating.
New gas tank. A period-correct toolkit is stored in the under-bonnet toolbox. The car has redone seats, new interior, steering wheel, carpet, convertible top frame and tan Stayfast top, less than 350 miles on older tires, new brake master & wheel cylinders, metal and flex brake lines, shoes, and drums with silicone brake fluid.
The brakes are extremely good. All electrical gauges and items work (though I haven't used the wipers). The paint is in excellent condition with a few very minor scrapes and chips. The chrome parts are new or rechromed. There is no rust. Total mileage is unknown. Always garaged and never driven in precipitation under my and PO's ownership. The previous owner and
I have endeavored to make this TF (Mr. Gatesby) as close to perfect as we could.
